South Africa have thrashed England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. England have suffered a massive loss against the Proteas by 229 runs. England succumbed to South Africa’s target of 400 runs and were bundled out on just 170 runs. England’s defeat margin could have been bigger, but the final wicket partnership between Mark Wood (43) and Gus Atkinson (35) avoided a possible embarrassment for defending champions England. Reece Topley couldn’t come out to bat due to injury.

Rassie van der Dussen's magnificent save

South African top-order batter Rassie van der Dussen had a magnificent day at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He played a magnificent knock of 65 runs at the top for South Africa and then later on went to deliver one of the finest saves in long off boundary line. Just two balls before the game ended, Mark Wood tried to play an attacking shot over long-off where Rassie van der Dussen attempted a magnificent save. He jumped high in the air to catch the ball but as soon as he saw himself crossing the boundary line he threw it in the air once again outside the rope. Wood got only 1 run and in the next delivery, Gus Atkinson was castled by left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj. Mark Wood scored 43 runs in 17 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Gus Atkinson smashed 35 runs in 21 balls with 7 fours.

South Africa posted a huge total on the board with the help of their top-order and later on Heinrich Klaasen (109) and Marco Jansen (75) smashed the England bowlers with 151 runs partnership in 13 overs.
