Ravi Ashwin retains top spot, Jasprit Bumrah moves up as ICC releases latest test rankings

Ravi Ashwin is just four away from reaching 500 wickets in test cricket.
Following the first match between India and England in the five-match test series, ace Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has continued to hold the top spot in ICC latest rankings for bowlers. Ashwin picked up six wickets against England in the first match in Hyderabad. Ashwin bowled two brilliant spells in Hyderabad but failed to inspire the Indian side to a win. England defeated India by 28 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has 853 rating points to his name. Ashwin is also chasing a special milestone of 500 test wickets in his career. After taking six wickets in Hyderabad test, he is now just four wickets away from becoming the ninth bowler overall and second Indian to take 500 or more test wickets. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah also has jumped one place in the ICC rankings for bowlers in tests after a brilliant spell he bowled in the second innings of Hyderabad test. Bumrah is currently at fourth spot in the rankings.
Three Indian bowlers in top 10
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is currently placed fourth with 825 rating points. Jasprit Bumrah also picked up six wickets in the Hyderabad test. Another Indian bowler in the top 10 is all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is placed sixth in the ICC test rankings for bowlers with 754 rating points. Jadeja also had a terrific game with bat and ball in the first innings of the Hyderabad test.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 87 runs in the first innings while he picked up five wickets with the ball in the entire game. Ravindra Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury during the first test and got ruled out of the second test in Visakhapatnam. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada is currently placed second in the ICC rankings for bowlers in tests.

English top-order batter Ollie Pope made a huge leap of 20 places in the batters rankings and he is currently placed at 15th with 684 rating points. Ollie Pope scored 196 runs in the Hyderabad test and helped his side with the game. Joe Root had a terrific all-round performance for England in Hyderabad and he jumped one place up to fourth place in the ICC rankings for test all-rounders.
