Ravi Ashwin becomes first ever Indian bowler to dismiss father-son duo in Test cricket

Ravi Ashwin has become only 5th bowler after Ian Botham, Wasim Akram, Mitchell Starc and Simon Harmer to achieve this feat.

During the ongoing 1st Test match between West Indies and India, a historic moment unfolded as Ravi Ashwin, the off-spinner of Team India, dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the first innings. This achievement marked a significant milestone as Ashwin became the first Indian bowler to dismiss both the father and son duo in the Test Cricket.

In his Test debut in Delhi in 2011, Ravi Ashwin took the wicket of Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Adding to his illustrious career, in his 92nd Test match for India, Ashwin accomplished a remarkable feat by dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who is the son of Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

It is worth noting that Mitchell Starc, the Australian fast bowler and Simon Harmer, the South African bowler have also achieved the feat of dismissing both Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul in Test cricket. However, Ravichandran Ashwin's accomplishment holds a special significance as he becomes the first-ever Indian bowler to achieve this feat.

Another Record For Ravi Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin, with his 475th wicket, not only achieved a significant milestone but also surpassed Anil Kumble to claim the record for the highest number of bowled dismissals in Test cricket among Indian bowlers. Ashwin now stands at 95 bowled dismissals, overtaking Kumble's previous record of 94.

Ravi Ashwin demonstrated his exceptional bowling prowess, claiming 2 wickets. Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja also made valuable contributions by taking 1 wicket each.
