Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja registered a new test record as a bowling pair.

In the opening match of the five-match test series between India and England at Hyderabad, the duo of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja showcased their skills, breaking the longstanding record held by legendary Indian spinners Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. The turning point came as England, after a solid start, crumbled to 60/3, with Ashwin and Jadeja orchestrating a remarkable turnaround.

England, having won the toss, opted to bat first. A promising first-wicket partnership of 55 runs was followed by a sudden collapse, leaving England at 60/3. Meanwhile, an extraordinary milestone was achieved as Ashwin and Jadeja surpassed Kumble and Harbhajan’s record of 501 test wickets as a pair.

Ashwin and Jadeja now stand united with a total of 504* test wickets. In 50 test matches, the duo has picked 504 test wickets, in which Ashwin has scalped 276 wickets, while Jadeja picked 228 wickets. Both the bowlers are also nearing to respective milestones. Ashwin is at 492 wickets and is eight wickets away to complete the 500-test wicket mark. While, Jadeja who is at 277 test wickets is 23 wickets away to complete the 300 test-wicket mark.

As of writing, England are batting at 125/5 in 36 overs, after struggling against the Indian spin duo. Ashwin claimed two crucial wickets, dismissing Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, while Jadeja also contributed with two wickets, removing Ollie Pope and Joe Root.
