Rohit Sharma will lead India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma‘s leadership has been a topic of discussion among critics in the recent months. While the 37-year-old has been highly praised for India’s consistency in the white-ball formats, he faced backlash following India’s poor performance in the test series against New Zealand at home and Australia Down Under.

India recently whitewashed England in the three-match ODI series. Rohit returned to form by scoring a century in the second game of the series in Cuttack.

Recently-retired veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has now shared his thoughts on Rohit’s leadership qualities, calling the Indian captain the “most selfless cricketer.”

He further stated that if Rohit were selfish, he wouldn’t take such high risks in the powerplay overs. The off-spinner expressed having immense respect for the Indian captain.

He added, “If he would have been selfish, he would never have batted the way he is batting in the ODIs. He wouldn’t go after everything in the powerplay. I have massive respect for Rohit Sharma. I am also very happy for Rohit and I’m doubly glad that he is showing that this is the way forward.

He is like I have scored runs but its business as usual. My one-day form was good. Let’s talk about other players, who has made an impact. I love that quality of Rohit Sharma.

Rohit will lead India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue will start their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
