Ravichandran Ashwin retired from Indian cricket in December last year and from IPL after the 2025 edition.
According to reports, Ravichandran Ashwin, a former off-spinner for Team India, will make his Big Bash League (BBL) debut in 2025–2026. The cricketer, who was born in Tamil Nadu, is in negotiations with four BBL teams, potentially making him the first male Indian player with international experience to play in the league.
On August 28, Ashwin announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The spinner indicated that he would like to investigate several T20 franchise competitions worldwide. Later this year, he is expected to play in both the BBL and the ILT20, as his schedule permits him to play in both competitions without any problems.
Ashwin was the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL when he announced his retirement earlier this year. In 221 games, he claimed 187 wickets at an average of 30.22. In addition, the cricket player scored 833 runs, including a half-century. At an average of 26.94, he has also taken 317 T20 wickets total.

According to the report, Ravichandran Ashwin has agreed to participate in the first-ever ILT20 auction in the United Arab Emirates, which is set for next Tuesday. He is eligible to participate in the competition, which is scheduled for December 2–January 4. As per the reports, he has set a base price of $120,000, which is highest for any player.
