Ravindra Jadeja creates history; acheives longest reign as No.1 test all-rounder

Ravindra Jadeja has retained the top spot as test all-rounder since March 2022.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has registered his name in the record books in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. Jadeja has retained the top spot in ICC Test rankings for all-rounders for the longest period.
In the latest updated rankings by the ICC, Jadeja has retained his spot with 400 rating points. Bangladesh player Mehidy Hasan Miraz is ranked second with 327 rating points.
South Africa’s Marco Jansen and Australia test skipper Pat Cummins capture the third and fourth spots, respectively. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan steals the fifth spot. Jadeja holds the 48th rank among batsmen and 10th rank among bowlers in the longest format.
Ravindra Jadeja jumped to the top spot in March 2022
Jadeja, who only plays for India in ODIs and tests, jumped to the top spot in the ICC’s test rankings for all-rounders in March 2022. The left-handed batsman achieved the peak position after his marvellous batting and bowling show against Sri Lanka in a test match in Mohali. Jadeja slammed an unbeaten 175 runs and picked nine wickets in the 1st test of the two-match series.
Jadeja had replaced West Indies cricketer Jason Holder from the top spot at that time. Since March 2022, the Indian all-rounder has retained his top spot in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders.
Jadeja, who bats left-handed, has played 80 tests for the Indian Cricket Team so far. He has slammed 3370 runs at an average of 34.74. He has also hunted 323 wickets at an average of 24.14. Since 2022, Jadeja has shown a wonderful form in the longest format.
In 2022, he slammed 328 runs and picked 10 wickets across three tests. In 2023, he mustered 281 runs and scalped 33 wickets across seven matches. In 2024, he hammered 527 runs and captured 48 wickets in 12 games.
Jadeja was also part of India’s previous test series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. He scored 135 runs and took four wickets in three matches during the series.
