Ravindra Jadeja won the Player of the Match award against England in the Champions Trophy 2013 final.

India’s last ICC Trophy title came in 2013 as the Champions Trophy in England. The moment when James Tredwell missed one of Ashwin’s off-spin deliveries, the whole of India made a leap in the air with joy like MS Dhoni did behind the stump. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a crucial role in India’s title win in 2013. Jadeja was the tournament’s leading wicket-taker and won the Golden Ball award for his star performance. This was India’s third title win under MS Dhoni’s leadership, before the Champions Trophy India won T20 World Cup in 2007 and World Cup in 2011. Ravindra Jadeja has put out a tweet to celebrate his performance as well as India’s success in the big ICC event.

Jadeja played a crucial role in the final against where he scored unbeaten 33 runs in 25 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Jadeja’s innings helped India put 129 runs on the board in a rain-curtailed final. The Final was played in a 20/20 overs game. Jadeja also picked up 2 wickets in the game. England were 6 runs short of the target. Jadeja picked up 12 wickets in 5 games with an outstanding economy of just 3.75 and picked up 5 wickets against West Indies.

India started their campaign with a 26 runs win over South Africa. After the first game, India decimated West Indies and Pakistan in the league games to finish top of Group B. India played Sri Lanka in the Semi-final and thrashed by 8 wickets to fix their clash against England in the Final. India’s top 3, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli finished as the top 5 leading run-scorers in the tournament. Shikhar Dhawan top scored with 363 runs in 5 games. India have failed to win an ICC tournament since the 2013 Champions Trophy. They were outplayed in the Final by Pakistan in the next Champions Trophy in 2017.
