Ravindra Jadeja praised Virat Kohli's stunning slip catch in the 1st ODI against West Indies at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Virat Kohli took an excellent catch in the second slip to dismiss Romario Shepherd off Ravindra Jadeja during the 1st innings of the ODI.

Jadeja, who had dismissed Shimron Hetmyer early in the over, got rid of Romario Shepherd for a duck. A tossed-up delivery worked as Shepherd was caught off the outside edge while trying for a drive.

Talking about the catch, Ravindra Jadeja said that Virat Kohli did not have much time to react, and it was a great catch.

"Every time I take good catches off other people's bowling, it was great to see someone take a great catch off my bowling for once. It was a great catch by Virat, it kept low and he had to be sharp. He barely had any time to react, so it was a good take," he said.

Jadeja added that the confidence of the bowlers would be boosted if they had fielders' support.

"If the bowler has the fielder's support on these types of pitches, then their confidence is really boosted," he added.

Batting first on a tough surface, West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav were the main destructors as they shared seven wickets between them. Jadeja ended with 3 for 37 from his six overs, while Kuldeep Yadav grabbed four wickets while giving away just six runs from three overs, including two maidens.

Talking about his bowling partnership with Kuldeep Yadav, Jadeja said the pitch offered a lot of spin.

"There was a lot of spin on offer from the wicket, so when one spinner starts bowling, the other gets an idea about how much the ball is gripping and bouncing and the right length to bowl as well."

Our priority was to not concede runs: Ravindra Jadeja

Adding more, the Indian all-rounder revealed that the plan was to keep things tight and not concede runs.

"Our priority was to not concede runs because as we even saw in the second innings, it was difficult to score as the ball was turning a lot and not coming onto the bat. Like they say 'hunt in pairs', I think we did the same with the ball," he concluded.

Chasing a modest total of 114, India made a few changes to the batting line-up. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the innings for the team and Rohit Sharma came in at seven. Virat Kohli did not get an opportunity to bat. Ishan Kishan dominated the innings with a half-century. The keeper ended with 52 runs from 46 deliveries with seven fours and a six. India chased down the target in the 23rd over to win by five wickets.
