Suryakumar Yadav's swashbuckling innings helped Mumbai Indians reach 3rd spot in the points table with 12 points.

It was Suryakumar Yadav’s storm at the Wankhede Stadium that blew Royal Challengers Bangalore away in a 200-run chase. In a marvelous batting display of T20 batting, Suryakumar smashed 83 runs in 35 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes to chase down RCB’s 200 runs target. Batting first, RCB put up 199 runs on the board. SKY with young Nehal Wadhera (52) decimated RCB bowlers and helped Mumbai chase down 200 runs target in just 16.4 overs at Wankhede. Ishan Kishan had made a great start to give the momentum, and Suryakumar Yadav grabbed it from both hands. RCB captain Faf du Plessis (65) with Glenn Maxwell (68) added 120 runs for the 3rd wicket, after two early blows. This gave them a platform to set up 199 on the board.

Faf felt RCB were 20 runs short

Orange cap holder RCB skipper Faf du Plessis was not happy with the way RCB ended their innings. Once they were going strong towards 220 pus but they could only manage 199 runs. Faf said, “I think we were at least 20 runs short, in the context of the wicket. They are a strong chasing team and they bat deep. We didn’t capitalise in the last five overs, disappointed due to the lack of runs in those five overs”. Suryakumar was sending RCB bowlers all around the park. Captain Faf was in full praise of SKY. Faf said, “He is one of the best, when he gets going it’s difficult to shut him down”. Suryakumar smashed 13 boundaries in 35 balls and batted with a strike rate of 237.

Rohit happy with MI's chasing capability

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians' skipper Rohit Sharma was happy with the way bowlers restricted RCB in the last few overs. Rohit praised young Aakash Madhwal who conceded only 6 runs in the 20th over. Rohit said, “Aakash did well, He was with us last year as well, We saw his skillset. We wanted to give him a role, he is confident and he leads his Uttarakhand team”. On high scoring chases Rohit said, “I have no idea what a safe score is. In The last 4 games we have seen an excess of 200 scores are being chased. The mindset of the batters is to do something special for the team it is coming off as well”. Mumbai have chased down 200-plus targets in a few games this season.

'RCB came up with a plan,' says SKY

Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav was awarded Player of the Match for his magnificent 83 runs match-winning knock. SKY was at his brutal best. Talking about his inning, he said, “Much needed from the team's point of view”. Suryakumar also felt that RCB came up with a plan against him. He said, “I am very happy to win a home game like this. I mean they come up with a plan. They tried to make me hit on the biggest part of the ground, and they took the pace of the and bowled slower”
