Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals faced a heavy defeat by 112 runs in the hands of visitors RCB.

In a virtual Knockout game against Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore have registered one of their biggest wins in the Indian Premier League. They decimated Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In a poor batting performance, Rajasthan Royals bundled out on just 59 runs while chasing 172. RCB after winning the toss came in to bat first. After losing Virat Kohli (18) early, RCB had a wonderful partnership between captain Faf du Plessis (55) and Glenn Maxwell (54). They added 69 runs for the second wicket. RCB had a poor middle-order performance once again, but Anuj Rawat helped RCB put up 171 on board. Rawat smashed 29 runs in 11 balls with three four and two sixes.

Sanju hopeful of playoff berth

In response to RCB's total, Royals had a poor start and lost Jaiswal in the second ball of the innings, soon after Jos Buttler departed in the second over. This put the Royals under pressure and they collapsed on just 59 runs. Talking about RR’s batting, Royals captain Sanju Samson said, “We usually go hard in the power play but it did not quite happen today. It will take some time to assess our display. That is the nature of T20 Cricket… RCB’s energy was different today and they wanted to win the game”. After a great first half, Rajasthan Royals struggled to win their games in the second half. Talking about this, Captain Sanju said, “I was thinking about where it went wrong, but sorry, I don’t have answers for that. We all know the nature of the IPL. We know things can change in a couple of days. Funny, Funny things happen at the end of the league… In Dharamshala, we have to keep our hopes alive and try our best”. The Royals will face Punjab Kings in their last league game.

RCB captain happy after a big win

RCB captain Faf du Plessis was extremely happy after winning an important game against Rajasthan Royals. Faf said, “It was really good, we needed it in terms of the NRR. It was a really difficult pitch when we batted first. The ball was keeping low and we felt that 160 would be a good score. Those hits towards the end pushed us to a good score”. RCB will need to win both of their remaining games to stay in the hunt for the playoff round. Talking about the possibility, captain Faf said, “Hopefully we can set it up for that last game against Gujarat Titans at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Today was really good for the team and I am sure everyone will be extremely motivated for the next two games”

'Finishers brought the momentum back'

All-rounder Wayne Parnell was awarded Player of the Match for his spell of 3/10 in 3 overs. His bowling in the power play put the Royals under pressure. Talking about his performance Parnell said, “Credit goes to our batters, The last over really brought back the momentum to our side. We understood what was needed and to execute the way we did was really pleasing. All of our batters had the same message, take the pace out and hit the stumps. To win by a big margin is also crucial for us”. Parnell got the wickets of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Joe Root.
