RCB have retained three players before IPL 2025 mega auction.
Despite being one of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have consistently struggled in the fast bowling department. RCB’s inconsistent bowling lineup has overshadowed their power-packed batting lineups throughout their IPL history.
This long-standing issue has served as one of the primary reasons behind the franchise’s inability to win their maiden title despite reaching the finals three times.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, RCB have addressed this issue and taken a proactive decision by roping in a new fast bowling coach.
Who is RCB’s new fast bowling coach?
RCB have appointed Omkar Salvi, the coach of Mumbai’s senior men’s team, as their new fast-bowling coach for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Salvi is a respected figure in the Indian domestic circuit who will bring wealth of experience to the franchise.
Salvi played only one List A game for Railways against Madhya Pradesh in 2005. He is the brother of former India pacer Avishkar Salvi and has previously worked as an assistant coach with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL.
Under his tenure as Mumbai’s coach, the team clinched the prestigious Ranji Trophy last season, which showcased his ability as a man manager and a coach. Known for his disciplined approach, Salvi is hailed as a master tactician in deveoping bowlers capable of delivering under pressure.
Confirming the development, an RCB source was quoted as saying by The Indian Express, “He has been appointed as bowling coach for RCB for the forthcoming season. He has the expertise and has worked with other franchises too.”
An official announcement from RCB is expected soon.
RCB had earlier appointed Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor for the 2025 season. Having retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal before the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchise will look to assemble a strong side for the upcoming season.
