RCB's record in Qualifier 1 of IPL

RCB have played Qualifier 1 in the IPL three times.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been one of the dominant teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years, having been part of the tournament since the maiden edition in 2008. RCB made a mark in the second edition itself, finishing as runners-up after losing to Deccan Chargers in the final.

Over the years, RCB qualified for the playoffs on multiple occasions. Bengaluru were also considered the unluckiest team as they finished as runners-up on three occasions- 2009, 2011, and 2016. They eventually completed their dream of winning an IPL trophy in the 2025 edition under Rajat Patidar’s captaincy.

Currently, RCB are among the strongest sides in the IPL. They comprise a balanced squad that dominates opposition teams. They also overpower champion teams like the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders.

As per the IPL format, the top two teams in the points table after the league stage play in the Qualifier 1. Teams participating in Qualifier 1 have a big advantage as they get two chances to reach the final.

Even if they lose Qualifier 1, they can still reach the final by winning Qualifier 2. Over the years, RCB have played Qualifier 1 thrice.

RCB have won Qualifier 1 two times

Out of three clashes in Qualifier 1, RCB have won two games and lost once. RCB played Qualifier 1 for the first time against CSK in the 2011 edition, losing by six wickets. Later, they won Qualifier 1 against the Gujarat Lions in 2016. After that, they defeated the Punjab Kings in 2025.
