Indian Cricket Team skipper Shubman Gill came up with a sensational effort with the bat in the ongoing second test against the England Cricket Team. The Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham is hosting the game between the two teams.
Shubman Gill, who slammed a ton in the first game, came up with an even greater effort in the ongoing game. Coming at four, the right-hander walked out to bat under pressure and made sure that when he walked back, his team was in a dominating position.
Shubman Gill showed great promise in his innings and looked in complete control as he slammed England bowlers all over the park. The captain led from the front and played his best test innings, which made many stand and applaud him for the way that he batted.
Shubman Gill hit a magnificent century, but his hunger didn’t end there as he went on to hit a sensational double ton. He was looking all set for a triple ton, but wickets falling at the other end made him play aggressively and eventually lose his wicket.
Shubman Gill ended up playing an innings of 269 runs off 387 balls. He slammed 30 boundaries and three sixes during his stay at the crease. His gigantic effort with the bat powered India to a total of 587 runs on the board.

The innings of 269 runs by Shubman Gill is now the highest test score by an Indian captain. He surpassed Virat Kohli, who registered an unbeaten 254 against South Africa in 2019.

This is also the highest score by an Indian against England in England, going past Sunil Gavaskar’s 221 runs.

Gill is now the only second Indian captain to have 200 outside Asia. Virat Kohli was the first to achieve this feat when he scored 200 against the West Indies in 2016.

Gill is now the only Asian captain to hit a test 200 in SENA countries. With his magical innings, he also went past 400 runs in the series.
