On the other hand, red soil pitches have more sand content and less clay. These surfaces are usually found in the western and southern parts of India. These pitches typically give more bounce and pace and dry up more quickly. They, therefore, typically help fast bowlers early in the game.

Red soil pitches can eventually break apart and give spinners a turn, but not as much as black soil pitches.
