Rehan Ahmed made his test debut against Pakistan in Karachi and picked up 7 wickets.

England have added Rehan Ahmed as Moeen Ali’s cover for the upcoming second Ashes test at the Lord’s. Moeen Ali had severe problems with his finger due to a blister and struggled to grip the ball. England lost the first Ashes test at Edgbaston by 2 wickets. England struggled in the spin department due to Ali’s injured finger. Ali bowled only 14 overs in the second innings and captain Ben Stokes had to use part-timer Joe Root as 2nd option. Ali bowled 14 overs in the second innings while Root bowled 15 overs. Ali and Root both picked up one wicket each in the innings. A spinner could have made a difference in Australia's 281 runs chase.

18-year-old Rehan Ahmed has also reacted to his Ashes call-up and tweeted, “Looking forward to joining up with the England team”. Rehan had a few successes in the County championship and picked up only 6 wickets in 7 games for his county Leicestershire. Rehan has already made his debut for England, he played his first-ever test for England in Karachi against Pakistan, where he picked up 7 wickets, including a 5-wicket haul in the second innings of the test. Rehan is perceived as one of the brightest stars for the future and future of spin bowling in English cricket. Ashes will be a big opportunity for him if gets a place in playing eleven at The Lord’s.

The second Ashes test will begin on 28th June at The Lord’s, Australia are 1-0 up in the five Ashes test series. Australia won an interesting encounter at Edgbaston by just 2 wickets to wash away the memory of Ashes 2005, where Australia lost the game by just 2 runs. The start of the Ashes series has been fantastic for cricket fans and they are expecting this series to be at the level of 2005 Ashes.
