Asia Cup 2023 is coming to an end, as only three games are left in the tournament. Almost two weeks have passed since the tournament commenced in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, but the rain is not willing to leave. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face each other to book the remaining place in Asia Cup finals on September 17 in Colombo. India already qualified with their 41-runs win over Sri Lanka on Monday. Keeping the trend going, there is a rain threat once again for Thursday encounter as well.
Is there a reserve day for PAK vs SL match?
Asia Cricket Council (ACC) kept the reserve day in an important India vs Pakistan clash in the super 4 round. This was the only game in the tournament with a reserve day apart from the big finals on September 17 in Colombo. No other game in the tournament had a reserve day in case of a complete washout. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are the four teams in this round. Fans and a few former cricketers came forward to slam this one-sided decision from authorities.
When the controversy was growing, Sri Lanka Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board came forward with a statement giving the green signal to the ACC’s decision and informed everyone that the decision was taken after discussing it with every single stakeholder in the tournament. PAK vs SL match on Thursday will see both teams fight for a spot in finals. India’s opening game in Group A was a washout after the first inning in Kandy.

The three remaining fixtures in Asia Cup 2023 are Pakistan playing against Sri Lanka on September 14 as a semi-finals, then India taking on Bangladesh on September 15, which is also likely to be rain-affected in Colombo. Bangladesh are almost out of the tournament, as they have lost each game they have played in the super 4 round so far. India has fixed their place in the finals and is waiting for the team to take on the title. The finals will be played on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
