IPL 2023: Revealed: Why Shivam Dube isn't included in CSK's playing XI vs DC

Shivam Dube isn’t included in Chennai Super Kings playing XI against Delhi Capitals tonight.

Chennai Super Kings are sitting comfortably in second position in the IPL 2023 points table. They are facing the bottom of the table Delhi Capitals at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first against Delhi. CSK are running high on confidence with their recent performance in the IPL 2023. They have made a change from their previous playing eleven.

CSK brought in Ambati Rayudu in place of left-hand batting all-rounder Shivam Dube. Shivam Dube has been performing nicely for the CSK in the middle order. Chennai’s batting order has been running high on confidence with their openers doing the bulk of the scoring with great support from Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube in the middle order. 

Injured Shivam Dube was replaced by Ambati Rayudu

All-rounder Shivam Dube hurt his finger while fielding against Mumbai Indians. He also kept himself away from the training sessions after the Mumbai game. Shivam Dube is not fit to take on Delhi Capitals at the moment and experienced batter Ambati Rayudu has come in. Rayudu will have a huge role in his hand, as Shivam was batting with aggressive intent in most of the innings. Dube smashed half-centuries against Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Rajasthan Royals. He also came in to bat against Mumbai despite the trouble in his finger and smashed 3 sixes to score unbeaten 26 runs. 

Chennai will look to consolidate their position in the points table. They are currently placed 2nd in the table with 13 points in 11 games. Gujarat Titans are still top of the table with 16 points in 11 games. Delhi Capitals have also won their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore convincingly. Delhi’s chances are almost impossible for the playoff race but they can still hurt other teams by their unpredictability.
