Rinku Singh smashed South African skipper Aiden Markram for back-to-back sixes in SA vs IND 2nd T20I.
In a nail-biting 2nd T20I clash between India and South Africa in Gqeberha on December 12, 2023, Rinku Singh, who is the new-found finisher for Indian team, once again showed his brilliance in the final overs. Rinku took centre stage against Aiden Markram, hitting consecutive sixes that left the spectators in awe.
South Africa won the toss and choose to bowl first, South Africa got the wickets of Indian openers very early.
Rinku Singh hits back to back sixes
In the 19th over of the first innings, Rinku’s first six soared over mid-wicket, demonstrating Singh’s raw power and precision. The second six, a mighty blow straight down the ground, not only showcased his aggressive intent but also had an unexpected consequence, it shattered the glass of the media box.

Rinku’s unbeaten innings of 68 runs from just 39 balls, featuring a total of nine boundaries and two towering sixes, played a pivotal role in steering India to a competitive total of 180/7 in 19.3 overs before rain stopped the play. The destructive display in the final over turned the tide in India’s favour, leaving South African bowlers and fielders stunned.
The second six hit by Rinku Singh went on to smash on glass of the venue’s media box. BCCI media manager Rajal Arora, present at the venue, posted a picture of the shattered glass on social media.

Earlier in the innings, Tilak Varma contributed a brisk 29, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive knock of 56 laid the foundation for the explosive finish provided by Rinku. Despite the early setbacks with the top-order, Singh’s heroics ensured that India posted a challenging target.
For South Africa, Gerald Coetzee was the most successful bowler for South Africa, claiming three crucial wickets for 32 runs in his 3.3 overs. Marco Jansen and Aiden Markram also made valuable contributions, but it was Rinku Singh’s onslaught in the penultimate over that stole the spotlight.
