Indian middle-order batter Rinku Singh made his ODI and T20I debut last year.

Young Indian middle-order batter Rinku Singh has been added to the India A squad for the unofficial test series against England Lions. Rinku Singh will be taking part in the second India A vs England Lions game to be played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rinku has been constantly playing cricket across formats and after finishing the T20I series against Afghanistan, he played for UP against Bihar in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24.

Rinku Singh had a fantastic 2023 in limited overs cricket. India’s new-age star is currently seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Rinku performed exceptionally well in T20I cricket and played a few match-winning knocks. With Virat Kohli opting out of the first two tests, there is one vacancy in the Indian squad for the upcoming five match test series against England and Rinku might be considered as a possible replacement among with the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan who have been doing well in the domestic circuit.

Rinku’s magnificent first class numbers

Rinku Singh has so far played 44 First Class games in Indian domestic cricket. Just like in limited overs cricket, Rinku did a terrific job with the bat in whites as well. He scored 3109 runs at an average of 57.57, he also smashed 7 centuries and 20 half-centuries in First Class cricket. Rinku’s magnificent run across formats has made him a front-runner for a place in the Indian squad and possible test debut against England.

Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran will be leading the India A squad against England Lions. Sai Sudarshan and Rajat Patidar are also part of the India A squad. Sarfaraz Khan will be available for the second unofficial test in Ahmedabad and he is likely to leave the camp after the Ahmedabad game. Tilak Varma and Kumar Kushagra are also part of the India A middle-order.

Mumbai’s left-arm spinner Shams Mulani also has been included in the India A squad for the second unofficial test. Mulani had a terrific Ranji Trophy season so far for Mumbai and picked up 17 wickets in 3 games. Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Saurabh Kumar will be leading the charge in the spin bowling department. He has been a consistent performer in the First Class cricket.
