Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna have become 106th and 107th players respectively to represent India in T20Is.
The ongoing three-match T20I series is an opportunity for the youngsters to have more game time in the absence of a few senior names in the shorter format. Along with the long-awaited comeback of Jasprit Bumrah, another wait has ended as India take on Ireland in the first T20I in Malahide. Team management gave the IPL’s hero Rinku Singh his much-awaited T20I debut for India. Pacer Prasidh Krishna has made his comeback in the Indian squad and earned his T20I debut. Fans were disappointed to not see Rinku in West Indies, but against Ireland, their disappointment came to an end as Rinku is officially an Indian international player.

BCCI’s official Twitter handle has posted a few pictures from the cap-presenting ceremony. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah handed the Indian blue caps to both the players stepping on the field wearing blue jerseys for team India in the T20I format. Captain Jasprit Bumrah said at the toss that he had told these two young debutants to just enjoy their cricket. Along with these two debutants, Shivam Dube has also made his comeback in the Indian team after his stellar performance in the IPL 2023 as well as in the Deodhar Trophy 2023 in Pondicherry.
Rinku Singh ended up as a leading run-scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023 and played a few magnificent innings to win the games for KKR or almost change the momentum. Rinku smashed 31 runs in the 20th over with five consecutive sixes against the Gujarat Titans. This innings will always be remembered for his heroics in the final over. Prasidh Krishna is also making a comeback in the squad after a back injury. Krishna is in contention for the World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023, and the Ireland tour will give him the opportunity to attain his full fitness and rhythm alongside Jasprit Bumrah.
Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first T20I. This is also his first game as a captain in the T20I format. At the time of writing, India have started magnificently in the first game as Ireland are reeling under pressure with 4 down in the powerplay. Jasprit Bumrah made a roaring comeback and picked up two wickets in his first over after the injury break. He cleaned up Andrew Balbernie and then got Lorcan Tucker out while attempting a scoop shot. Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi have also picked up a wicket each in the powerplay.
