Rishabh Pant suffered a fractured foot in the Manchester test against England.

Rishabh Pant‘s availability for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is set to be played in Abu Dhabi from September 9, has drawn concern. The Times of India reports that the Indian wicket-keeper batter has been ruled out of the competition because of fitness concerns.

Rishabh Pant had a dismissal outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as captain and batter. With a seventh-place result, LSG were unable to make it to the playoffs. Pant only scored 269 runs in 13 innings, but his only noteworthy performance was an unbeaten 118 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the eventual champions.

Rishabh Pant suffered a fractured foot in Manchester test

Pant suffered a major setback on day 1 of the Manchester test during the recently-concluded India’s tour of England as he attempted a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes and broke his right foot. He had to be carried off the field on a cart because he was obviously distressed.

Pant courageously went out to bat the next day and scored a half-century in spite of the injury. Dhruv Jurel replaced him behind the stumps when he was unable to hold onto wickets. Additionally, Pant did not bat in his typical position of No. 5 in the second innings; instead, Washington Sundar was moved up the order.

Rishabh Pant ruled out Asia Cup and West Indies tests

The Times of India reports that Pant will be out for at least six weeks due to a fractured toe. Although surgery is not necessary, his rehabilitation schedule precludes him from playing in the Asia Cup and raises questions about whether he will be able to play in the West Indies series.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant won’t require surgery after a toe fracture during the fourth Test in Manchester. However, Pant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks. He will miss the Asia Cup and possibly the West Indies series,” the Times of India report read.

In October 2025, India will host the West Indies for a two-match test series. The Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the first game from October 2–6, and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will host the second test from October 10–14.

India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman have all been assigned to Group A of Asia Cup 2025. In order to get ready for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in India and Sri Lanka, the competition will be contested in T20 format.

On September 10, India will begin their campaign against the UAE. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host the eagerly awaited India vs Pakistan on September 14. On September 19, they will play Oman to conclude the group round.
