Rishabh Pant will be seen in action for India in third test against England at Lord’s Cricket Ground from July 10.
On Monday, July 7, several well-known figures attended the storied Wimbledon Championship, including India’s test vice-captain Rishabh Pant. The keeper-batter made a sleek appearance at the All-England Club in London the day after playing in the second test of the current India vs England series at Edgbaston.
With his appearance there, Rishabh Pant joined the elite list of Indian Cricketers to get an invitation from Wimbledon after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and a few others.
One of India’s top players in the test series thus far, Pant took a break between games to watch a tennis match on Centre Court. The southpaw was greeted on Wimbledon’s official Instagram account. “Greetings from #Wimbledon, @rishabpant.”
With two hundreds in the first test and 25 and 65 in the Edgbaston test, the 27-year-old has had an incredible run in the first two matches. Pant was instrumental in helping India level the series following the defeat in the first test, scoring 342 runs at an average of 85.50 over four innings.
During the current England vs India test series, Rishabh Pant has been playing exceptionally well. With scores of 134 and 118, Pant made history as the first Indian wicketkeeper to hit hundreds in both innings of a test match, and only the second overall after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe, despite the visitors’ defeat in the first game.
The left-hander scored 25 runs in the first innings of the second test match before scoring a solid 65 off 58 deliveries in the second.
Virat Kohli, Joe Root, and other celebrities grace the Wimbledon
Notably, there were other cricket players at Wimbledon besides Pant. With his wife Anushka Sharma by his side, former India captain Virat Kohli was spotted in the Round of 16 match between Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur.
James Anderson and Joe Root of England were also on the Centre Court. Anderson was sitting a few rows back in the Royal Box, while Root, England’s leading run scorer in test cricket, was spotted shaking hands with Swiss great Roger Federer.
Sports figures like swimmer Mark Foster and football player Chris Kamara were also present, along with legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara. Wimbledon shared a vintage photo of MS Dhoni at Centre Court to wish him a happy 44th birthday.
