Rishabh Pant was part of India’s squad in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

It has been a challenging few months for Rishabh Pant. The southpaw scored 255 runs in nine innings during India’s 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.

In ODIs, Pant was part of the Indian squad that made history by winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but he did not feature in any of the team’s last eight matches.

Rishabh Pant’s next assignment will be to lead Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The franchise showed immense faith in Pant by securing his services for a record amount of INR 27 crores at the auction. Regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in Indian cricket, Pant will look to seize this opportunity to make a comeback in India’s limited-overs teams.

The southpaw has now addressed a viral question about why his bat often slips from his hands while batting.

Rishabh Pant reveals why his bat often slips out of his hands

Speaking on JioHotstar, Pant revealed that his bat often slips out of his hands because he holds the bottom hand very lightly.

Pant said, “I think it mostly happens because I hold my bottom hand very lightly. I mainly try to use my bottom hand for support because, at times, it starts dominating. So, I focus on gripping my top hand tightly. But when I overreach—especially when the ball is too wide or too short—it’s not always in the ideal hitting zone.

He acknowledged that he sometimes plays shots with a very low success rate but mentioned that, depending on the match situation, he is willing to take that risk.

He added, “Sometimes, the shot I attempt may only have a 30-40% success rate, but depending on the match situation, I’m willing to take that risk. That’s my mindset.
