The India Cricket Team are locking horns with the England Cricket Team in the ongoing first test of the five-match series at Headingley, Leeds. The home skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to field first, but the decision backfired as India showed a wonderful performance with the bat, reaching 359/3 at the stumps of day one.
Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave a decent start to batting and piled up a 91-run stand for the first wicket. While Rahul got out for 42 runs, Jaiswal scored a marvellous century, scoring 101 runs off 159 balls. Later, skipper Shubman Gill arrived with another century and remained unbeaten at 127 runs off 175 deliveries in the end.
Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who came in to bat at five, lent good support to Gill. The left-handed batsman scored a half-century and was unbeaten at 65 runs. During his knock, Pant hammered six boundaries and two sixes.
