Rishabh Pant has also started keeping wickets with light intensity in NCA nets.

India star Rishabh Pant is continuing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and showing great progress. The southpaw has been sharing developments on his comeback via social media, but it’s reported that Pant has now moved on to facing 140 kph-plus deliveries at nets at the NCA.

Pant started taking throwdowns last month, but during the last two weeks, the speed of the deliveries he is facing has only picked up. Additionally, he began sparingly keeping wickets in the NCA’s nets.

Driving alone, Rishabh Pant was returning to Roorkee from Delhi in December last year, when, close to Dehradun, his vehicle lost control and caught fire. The batsman was saved by the villagers and taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent cosmetic surgery and received treatment for burns and other wounds.

The BCCI then had him airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment and some major surgeries, especially on his right knee.

NCA medical staff surprised with Rishabh Pant’s speedy recovery rate

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) had said Pant suffered cuts to his forehead and tore a ligament on his right knee, besides injuring his right wrist, ankle, and toe. He also had abrasion injuries on his back.

As of now, Pant has no trouble facing quicker deliveries and is comfortable with small movements. He has also started to keep wickets with lesser intensity. Also troublesome for the 25-year-old is larger and sudden body movements.

“Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with speed excess to 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months,” a source at the NCA told RevSportz.

The medical staff and trainers are confident that he would achieve those big movements in the next couple of months. Pant has taken surprised everyone, especially those who are working with him on a daily basis, with his eye-catching recovery.
