Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of action for six weeks after suffering foot fracture.
Indian test vice-captain Rishabh Pant has once again shown that he is a champion on and off the field with his kind act of lending a hand to a Karnataka student who was struggling financially.
Pant returned from England earlier, before the fifth test of the series began. This was because of the foot injury he suffered during the fourth test in Manchester. Chris Woakes had bowled a searing yorker to Pant, who, trying to reverse sweep, missed the ball. The ball took the under-edge of the ball and hit him flush on the small toe of his right foot.
As the bowler and England players appealed, Pant hobbled off and immediately took off his shoe in pain. Despite India physiotherapist’s immediate medical help, images showed Pant’s swollen foot and blood oozing out from the injured part. He left the ground on a medical cart.
He courageously came out to bat later with his foot taped up and taking painkilling injections and scored 54 runs to give India a fighting chance in the first innings. Later, Pant was seen wearing a cast on his foot and in a medical boot. He has been ruled out of action for six weeks.
Rishabh Pant funds Karnataka’s Jyoti’s higher education dreams

In a heartwarming story, it has been revealed that Rishabh Pant helped a financially challenged Karnataka girl fulfil her dreams of higher education.
A deserving student from Rabakavi village in Bilagi taluk of Bagalkot district, Jyoti Kanaboor Math, needed Pant’s help because she couldn’t afford the Rs 40,000 admission fee for a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course at BLDE College, Jamkhandi, despite having an 83% grade in her II PUC (Class 12).
Teerthayya, Jyoti’s father, owns a tiny tea shop and is unable to pay for college. When Anil Hunashikatti, a local contractor, was inspired by her perseverance and contacted acquaintances in Bengaluru, including one who was close to Rishabh Pant, her hopes were restored.
The cricketer was immediately touched by Jyoti’s story and, on July 17, transferred Rs 40,000 directly to the college, covering her first-semester fee.
“I completed my II PUC in Galagali and had a dream of pursuing BCA. But our financial condition was not good. I approached Anil Anna, who contacted his friends. They reached out to Rishabh Pant, and he helped me. May God bless him with good health. His help means a lot to me,” Jyoti was quoted as saying by IANS.
Jyoti’s college also shared their gratitude to Rishabh Pant.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation for your generous gesture of personally paying the first semester admission fee. We sincerely hope your support for underprivileged students continues,” the college stated in a letter.
Pant’s quiet act of kindness, done without fanfare, has earned him admiration as a role model off the pitch.
