Rishabh Pant scored a blistering 99 in India’s second innings of the first IND vs NZ test in Bengaluru.

Following his impressive performance in the recently concluded first test of the three-match test series between India and New Zealand, Rishabh Pant has surpassed Virat Kohli in the latest ICC men’s test batting rankings.

The first test in Bengaluru was utterly absorbing as it had multiple twists and comebacks. The game in Bengaluru, in which New Zealand won by eight wickets, marked their first test win in India in 36 years.

After being outplayed in the first innings of the test, India staged a spirited comeback and threatened to pull off a miraculous win. Pant was one of the stars of the Indian comeback, with his explosive knock of 99 runs in the Indian second innings.

Despite Sarfaraz Khan and Pant’s efforts, New Zealand’s clinical performance with the second new ball helped the Kiwis seal the win.

Pant’s performance not only helped India avoid a complete collapse but also saw him climb on the latest ICC men’s test batting rankings, surpassing teammate Virat Kohli on the chart.
