ENG vs IND: Rishabh Pant on the verge of becoming greatest six-hitter for India in tests, likely to break Virender Sehwag's record in the Manchester test

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is on the verge of achieving a huge record in the upcoming fourth test against England. The keeper-batter can capture the record for the most sixes for India in test cricket. The Indian Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team will lock horns in the fourth test at Old Trafford, Manchester, from July 23 onwards.

Pant has hit 88 sixes in test cricket, equal to that of Rohit Sharma. Virender Sehwag has hit 90 sixes, the most by an Indian batsman. Hence, Pant is just three sixes short of surpassing Sehwag for the record.

Notably, Pant has shown a wonderful form in the test series. With 425 runs in six innings at an average of 70.83, the left-handed batsman is the second-highest run-scorer in the series after Shubman Gill (607). Pant has hammered two centuries and two half-centuries in the series. He has also hit 15 sixes across three games.

Notably, Pant faced a finger injury in the previous test at the Lord’s. As a result, he did not keep the stumps in the match. Dhruv Jurel was called in as a substitute. However, Pant came out to bat in both innings and also hammered a half-century in the first innings. He is expected to recover ahead of the fourth test, which takes place after a gap of more than a week.

Meanwhile, England lead the five-match test series 2-1 after winning the previous game at the Lord’s by 22 runs. India need to make a comeback in the fourth test to keep their chances of series victory alive. Notably, India have never won a test match against England in Manchester.
