Rishabh Pant was involved in a car accident on December 30, 2022 near his home town in Uttarakhand.

Rishabh Pant, the Indian keeper-batter, is likely to miss the Asia Cup in September and the World Cup in October-November, as he takes positive steps towards recovery but the time period is set to be extended and it would still be construed as a very fast recovery if he is back on the field by January.

Rishabh Pant suffered a road accident on December 30 last year and has been out of action since. He last represented India in a Test in Bangladesh in December. After being treated for initial injuries and burn at the Max hospital in Dehradun, the BCCI decided to airlift him to Mumbai.

Here, he underwent surgery for ligament tears in January and is under the care of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, head, of the Centre for Sports Medicine, and director - of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai. There is a possibility he may undergo another surgery.

He was recently seen during the Delhi Capitals games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and was seen walking with the help of crutches and those close to him reveal that he will take at least a couple of weeks to walk without any help.

Rishabh Pant will take seven to eight months to be cricket-fit

While it appears that he is recuperating more quickly than expected, according to Cricbuzz, it will still take him seven to eight months to return to full cricket fitness. Despite this, it might take him longer to do the wicketkeeping, and for the first part of his recovery, he will have to focus completely on his strengths as a batter, which is still valuable.

Pant is believed to be showing a lot of heart to return to action and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is extending all possible medical assistance.

He is currently at the NCA rehabbing from his injury and the exact time of his return will only be known only after he undergoes further evaluations at the facility.
