Rishabh Pant will be playing a key role for Indian Cricket Team in England series.
The Indian Cricket Team have flown to England for the five-match test series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The series will begin on 20th June at Headingley in Leeds and will conclude with the fifth test at the Kia Oval in London, which will start on July 31.
The Indian Cricket Team took the flight from Mumbai to England on the night of Thursday (5th June). The players were seen having a fun moment at the airport and also were seen giving autographs to fans before departing to the United Kingdom.
One of the players who was at the helm of things was keeper-batter Rishabh Pant. The vice-captain of the Indian Cricket test Team looked in a joyous mood, but what caught the attention was his conversation with the media personnel at the airport.
One of the paparazzi guys asked Rishabh Pant about Rohit Sharma, to which the keeper-batter replied that he is roaming in the garden. The media official then asked Pant if he would miss the garden or not, and the vice-captain of the team was quick to say he would miss it so much.

Here’s how the conversation unfolded between the two:
Paps to Rishabh Pant: “Rohit Sharma sir kidar hai”
Rishabh Pant: “garden, mein ghum rahe hain”
Paps: “sir apko yaad ayegi ki nahi garden ki”
Rishabh Pant: “garden ki to bahot yaad ayegi bhai”
Here’s the video:
For the unversed, the garden, term was used by Rohit Sharma during the home test series against England last year. The senior batter was heard telling his players to be attentive on the field and not roam in the ground. He had said: “B******d… Koi bhi garden mai ghumega, maa **** dunga sabka.”
Notably, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from test cricket last month. He announced his decision through a social media post, and a few days after that, the Indian Cricket Team was jolted with another blow as Virat Kohli too followed the same path and called time on his career in whites.
Hence, this will be the first time in a long time that the Indian Cricket Team will be playing without either Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli. The duo was the backbone of the team for more than one decade and their absence no doubt will leave a massive void.
With no Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant now automatically becomes the senior player in the team. The keeper-batter will be playing a massive role for the side in the tests against England. The Southpaw has a good track record in English conditions and would want to carry on that and help his team win.
The India Cricket Team will be captained by Shubman Gill in the series. He, along with Pant, will need to bring their best if they have to fancy their chances of winning.
