Rishabh Pant fractured his toe during fourth ENG vs IND test.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Sunday, July 27, confirmed that vice-captain Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the last game of the test series against the England Cricket Team. The match will take place at the Oval in London from 31st July.Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the last test with a fractured toe, which he sustained in the fourth test at Manchester’s Old Trafford. He attempted to play a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes, but was hit badly on the toe, and it was later revealed that he had sustained a fracture.
However, he showed great grit and came out to bat in the first innings and completed his fifty. Although he didn’t keep the wickets, he was ready to bat in the second innings, but thankfully, there wasn’t a need of that.
Releasing the official statement, the BCCI stated:
“Rishabh Pant, who sustained a fracture to his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the series. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress and the team wishes him a speedy recovery.”
BCCI names Narayan Jagadeesan as a replacement for Rishabh Pan for Oval test
The BCCI was also quick to name Rishabh Pant’s replacement for the last test. Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan has been added to the team for the last game. He joins the side based on his terrific performances in the domestic circuit.
The BCCI said: “The Men’s Selection Committee has named Narayan Jagadeesan as a replacement for Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test, which begins on July 31, 2025, at Kennington Oval, London.”
The absence of Rishabh Pant will leave a massive void in the Indian team for the last test, especially with England still in the lead. The keeper-batter showed golden form with the bat in the series, slamming 479 runs in seven innings with two tons and three fifties.
