Rishabh Pant had fractured his foot in the fourth test against England in Manchester.
Rishabh Pant has returned to India after a vacation and will soon visit the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation. Pant has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2025, thanks to the foot fracture he sustained during the England test series recently.
In the fourth test in Manchester, Pant tried to reverse sweep Chris Woakes, but the ball was a yorker and hit Pant flush on the side of his right foot. Pant immediately hobbled off in pain, and despite treatment by a physio on the ground, his foot swelled and started bleeding.
Pant left the ground on a medical cart, and later scans revealed a fractured foot. Pant courageously walked out to bat to resume his innings on 37 and made 54 runs in total before getting out. He was ruled out of the fifth and final test at the Oval and returned home.
Rishabh Pant wants to make India come back with the West Indies test series

Pant will head to the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru for further assessment and rehab under the medical unit there. Although the assessment’s specifics are still pending, it seems like Pant, 27, one of the best batters in all formats, plans to make a comeback for India in October during their upcoming home series against the West Indies. The October–November white-ball series against Australia appears to be a plausible option if that doesn’t occur.
Cricbuzz reported that Pant has been in Mumbai for the past few days, seeking advice from medical professionals. He had an evaluation to see how his damaged foot was doing. It is still thought to be strapped. It is believed that he was given a timeframe by city doctors to return to the CoE for rehabilitation.
Notably, Rishabh Pant had suffered a finger injury as well in the third test at Lord’s, with Dhruv Jurel replacing him in wicketkeeping duties.
Pant had already survived a near-fatal car accident in 2022 that left him dealing with several injuries and missing 18 months of cricketing time, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He made his return to cricket in IPL 2024 and then won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with the Indian team.
