Rishabh Pant had a torrid time with the bat in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants.

Indian Cricket Team wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is all set to continue his association with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As per sources in the know, it is learned that the franchise is in no mood to release the left-hander.

Rishabh Pant, who became the most expensive player in the IPL, couldn’t justify his price tag in the 2025 edition of the league. The keeper-batter was acquired by LSG for INR 27 crores at the mega auction was expected to set the stage on fire, but that didn’t happen at all.

Rishabh Pant looked clueless in IPL 2025 as he bagged a series of low scores. It’s fair to say that his poor performances as a skipper were one of the major reasons behind LSG failing to qualify for the playoffs, finishing seventh on the points table with just six wins under their belt.

Rishabh Pant looked extremely torrid with his batting in IPL 2025, especially in the initial and middle phases. However, he ensured that he finished the league on a high, racking up a magnificent century against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in LSG’s last league game.

Overall, Rishabh Pant mustered 269 runs in IPL 2025 at an average of just around 24. His tally included one century and one half-century. With him struggling badly in the league, there were numerous rumours claiming that the franchise would release him ahead of next season.

A journalist even claimed the same, but Rishabh Pant gave a befitting reply to him, saying that he should stop circulating fake news. Pant then also stated that media personnel should be responsible and sensible about what they put on social media.

Lucknow Super Giants are in no mood to release Rishabh Pant – Source

Amid all this fuss, a source close to the developments has rubbished all the reports. He claimed that the franchise won’t be releasing Pant and he will continue to captain the team next year as well.

“Lucknow Super Giants are in no mood to change their captain (Pant) or release him as claimed by many rumours on social media. They want to plan around Pant as the leader of the side for the next season,” told a source close to the developments.

Rishabh Pant showed glimpses of his true self in the last game that he played in IPL 2025. The keeper-batter hit a brutal century as he returned to form. He will be a key player for his team next year and would want to take the franchise to a title win next year.
