Rishi Dhawan represented India in three ODIs and one T20I.

India all-rounder from Himachal Pradesh Rishi Dhawan has announced his retirement from Indian limited-overs cricket. The 34-year-old, who made his international debut in 2016, ended his career with four caps – three in ODIs and one in T20Is.

His decision comes after the conclusion of the group stage of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25. Despite stepping away from limited-overs cricket, the all-rounder is expected to continue playing First-Class (FC) cricket for the remainder of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.

Rishi Dhawan played 134 List A matches, scoring 2906 runs at an average of 38.23 and taking 186 wickets at an average of 29.74. In T20s, he featured in 135 matches, picking up 118 wickets at an average of 26.44, while also scoring 1740 runs at a strike rate of 121.33.

The highlight of his career came in 2021-22, when he led Himachal Pradesh to their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title. He became the first player in the competition’s history to feature in the top five run-scorers chart (458 runs) and wicket-takers chart (17 wickets) in a single season.

He has also represented three IPL franchises – Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders – scoring 210 runs and taking 25 wickets in the tournament.

He then expressed his gratitude to the cricket associations and his mentors for their contributions to his career and thanked the game for everything it has given him.

He continued, “I want to take a moment to show my gratitude towards the opportunities that were given to me by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders.

From humble beginnings to representing my nation on the grandest stages, it has been a privilege beyond measure. Cricket has been my passion, and my reason for waking up every morning.

I would like to thank all of my coaches, mentors, teammates, and support staff for the valuable contributions you have made to shaping me into the person I am today.
