Young wicket-keeper batter Robin Minz is the first tribal player to get an IPL contract.
Gujarat Titans’ (GT) young batter Robin Minz has suffered a setback in his preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The 21-year-old Minz, who was bought by the Titans for a whopping Rs 3.60 crore, was involved in a bike accident. The unfortunate incident was confirmed by his father on Sunday.
As per several reports, the uncapped Indian cricketer was riding a Kawasaki superbike when contact with another vehicle made him lose control of his bike. The front part of the bike was severely damaged, leading to bruises on Robin’s right knee.
It is understood that Robin Minz is currently under observation at a local medical facility. “He lost control when his bike came in contact with another bike. Nothing serious at the moment and he is currently under observation,” Robin’s father Francis told News18.
Robin Minz is the first tribal player to get an IPL contract. The 21-year-old is yet to make his debut in the Indian state of Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. However, Minz has already played in U-19 and U-25 teams.
The Gujarat Titans franchise is yet to comment on the extent of Minz’s injuries or his availability for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. This news comes as a setback for both the player and the team. Minz is considered a rising star in Indian cricket. The Titans will be hoping for a swift recovery for their young talent.
