India and Pakistan are to clash in the Asia Cup 2023 on September 2nd in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa made his prediction of the winner between India and Pakistan ahead of their Asia Cup 2023 clash on September 2nd in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The two arch-rivals are slated to play each other once in the group stage, then in the super 4s stage, and possibly in the final as well.

The continental tournament will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17. Pakistan will play the tournament opener against Nepal on August 30 in Multan and will host two more group matches and one super 4s match in the country.

The rest of the matches will be played in Sri Lanka, including the final on September 17.

India and Pakistan last played each other in Melbourne in the T20 World Cup 2022, in which the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan thanks to an all-time great knock by Virat Kohli.

‘Pakistan are very good side’ says Robin Uthappa

On the AakashVani show on JioCinema, Robin Uthappa opined that India-Pakistan clashes are expected to be closely fought games. However, he predicted that Men in Blue would be victorious in all three potential clashes.

Uthappa said: “They (Pakistan) are a very good side. Their personnel are very skillful, very talented. Having said that, so are ours (India’s). I think it will make for two very good games and hopefully the third one as well.

My prediction for the India-Pakistan games is always 3-0 to India. Having said that, they are not going to be easy games for the Indian squad.”

Good that India will play Pakistan these many times before World Cup- Abhishek Nayar

On the other hand, KKR assistant coach and former India cricketer Abhishek Nayar said that it is good that India are playing Pakistan so many times before they clash in World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad on October 14, because it will help Men in Blue to prepare for opposition players.

He elaborated: “I think it’s a matter of habit. The more you play a team, the better you know them, and the less pressure there is, and I feel it works both ways. But I also feel that, just for the Indians, the more you play against them, especially their fast bowlers, who are very unique and very different, the better you are prepared.

It prepares our bowlers to bowl against their batters. It’s always good to play a team a few times before you come up to such a big match in Ahmedabad, the World Cup game that’s happening in India in Ahmedabad.”

Nayar also predicted that India would win all the encounters against Pakistan, who are currently the No. 1 ranked ODI team.
