Rohit Sharma confirms Khel Now exclusive story on Hardik Pandya's injury
Indian captain Rohit Sharma provided update on Hardik Pandya's injury in post-match presentation.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that the all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who suffered an ankle injury during the first innings isn't serious, as earlier reported by Khel Now in an exclusive news. Rohit also confirmed that Hardik's injury won't force him out for a long period of the game. Hardik suffered an injury on his left ankle while bowling his first over in the game. He had to walk back without completing his opening over and Virat Kohli came in to bowl his remaining three deliveries.
Rohit Sharma updates on Hardik Pandya's injury
In the post-match presentation ceremony, Indian captain Rohit Sharma informed everyone that the team management will see how he pulls up tomorrow morning. Rohit said, “He (Hardik) pulled up a bit sore, nothing really major to worry about. We will see how he pulls up tomorrow morning and then plan on how to go forward.” Hardik was also spotted in the Indian dressing room cheering for team India win suggesting he is in good spirits.
Earlier, Khel Now learned that the early scan assessment on Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya ruled out any major injury. A Khel Now source, aware of the development revealed, "Even though it may not be as serious as it seemed this afternoon, the Team Management still might take precaution and not rush Hardik into playing XI soon.” Rohit Sharma has also updated about the same in the post-match ceremony event.
What happened to Hardik Pandya?
Hardik Pandya slipped on his follow-through when he was attempting to stop a straight drive from Litton Das. Hardik immediately complained about the pain and was unable to walk. The team physio and medical team were called in to check on Hardik. They did the assessment but Hardik couldn’t walk properly and had to go back without completing his first over. Hardik was soon taken for scans and the reports gave a positive sign.
Official words from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to come on Hardik Pandya’s injury. Team India will be next taking on New Zealand in a battle for the top at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday. India and New Zealand are the only two teams without any loss in the World Cup 2023 and have 8 points in their 4 games so far. India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in Pune and Virat Kohli smashed his 48th ODI century.
