Rohit Sharma named captain as ICC announces men's T20I team of the year 2024

The ICC men’s T20I team of the year 2024 includes four Indians.
On Saturday, January 25, the ICC announced their men’s T20I team of the year 2024. This XI included four Indian players from the side that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final, with the Indian captain Rohit Sharma being named as the skipper by the ICC as well.
Rohit and Travis Head are at the forefront of the ICC men’s T20I team of the year 2024, having batted belligerently in T20Is last year. Rohit scored 378 runs at a strike rate of 160, while Head smashed 539 runs at a strike rate of 178.
England’s Phil Salt earned his spot in the team with his 467 runs, which he scored at a strike rate of 164. Salt is followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam at No. 4. The former Pakistani skipper scored 738 runs last year, the most among the batsmen of Full Member teams.
West Indies’ left-handed power-hitter Nicholas Pooran is the marauder in the middle-order and the keeper of this side. Pooran scored 464 runs at a strike rate of 142 last year in T20Is.
Zimbabwe’s veteran Sikandar Raza (573 runs, 24 wickets), and India’s Hardik Pandya (352 runs, 16 wickets) are the two premier all-rounders in the ICC men’s T20I team of the year 2024. Pandya delivered all-round performances in India’s title-winning campaign last year.
The ICC have included two Asian leg-spinners in their side: Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who took 31 wickets last year at an average of just 9.58, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, who claimed 38 wickets and scored 179 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah is the leader of the pace attack of the ICC men’s T20I team of the year 2024. Bumrah, who bagged the Man of the Tournament award at the T20 World Cup 2024, snared 15 wickets in eight games in 2024 at 8.26. In his support was Arshdeep Singh, who was the joint-leading wicket-taker of the competition. Arshdeep picked up 36 wickets in T20Is last year.
