Rohit Sharma was Shikhar Dhawan’s opening partner for most of his ODI career.

Indian test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram handle following retirement of his former opening partner Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan called time on his international and domestic cricket career on 24th August.

The great opening duo of Rohit and Dhawan had a dream period from 2013 to 2019 in international cricket across all three formats.

Rohit and Dhawan hammered 6501 runs in 162 innings they batted together in international cricket from 2013 to 2019. The duo also notched up 20 hundred plus stands and as many half-century partnerships at an average of 40.37.

From 2013 to 2019, Rohit and Dhawan took ODI cricket by a storm. The opening pair hammered 4710 runs in 106 innings they opened together at an average of 44.85. Rohit notched up 26 centuries, and Shikhar made 17 hundreds during the period.

From dressing rooms to sharing lifetime memories on the field: Rohit’s heartwarming message for Dhawan

As Dhawan announced his retirement from international and Indian domestic cricket, his former opening partner Rohit Sharma shared a lovely note on his social media handle Instagram. Rohit wrote that Dhawan made his job easier while they both opened for India in international cricket.

The opening pair also played a crucial role in helping India lift the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England. Dhawan (363) was the highest run-getter of the tournament and was also named Player of the Tournament. Rohit was the fourth-leading run scorer with 177 runs in the showpiece event.

“From sharing rooms to sharing lifetime memories on the field. You always made my job easier from the other end. THE ULTIMATE JATT,” Rohit Sharma wrote for Dhawan in a post on his Instagram handle.
