Rohit Sharma won Player of the Series award in the three-match ODI series against Australia.

Indian Cricket Team batter Rohit Sharma slammed a match-winning century against Australian Cricket Team in the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney to take the team home by nine wickets. After conclusion of the series, he shared a story on his Instagram account on Sunday (October 26), to confirm that the three-match ODI series was his last assignment in Australia.

The 38-year-old gave a wonderful performance in the series, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 202 runs. He got out cheaply in the opening game in Perth for eight runs, however, he slammed a half-century (73) in the second ODI in Adelaide and a ton (121*) in the third ODI in Sydney. Despite India losing the series 2-1, Rohit was adjudged Player of the Series.

Not only this, the 38-year-old broke multiple records. To begin with, he became the third highest run-scorer for India in ODI cricket, overtaking former captain Sourav Ganguly. He also became the first Indian batter and fifth overall to reach the milestone of 1000 ODI runs against Australia in Australia.

Rohit Sharma confirms playing his last ODI in Australia through social media

While departing from Sydney after conclusion of the ODI series, Rohit shared a story on Instagram to confirm playing his last ODI match in Australia.

He shared a photo of himself outside the Sydney Airport with the caption,: “One last time, signing off from Sydney”.

Ahead of India’s tour of Australia, Rohit was replaced as India’s ODI captain with Shubman Gill taking the reins of the side. Having already been retired from T20Is and tests, Rohit is in the final stages of his international career. His next focus is to play for India in ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, scheduled to be played in October and November 2027.
