After being out of India's T20I side for months, Rohit Sharma drops a massive hint on his future

Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer to have featured in all editions of the T20 World Cup till now.

Rohit Sharma has dropped a massive hint on his future in T20Is for the Indian team as the Men in Blue prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup from now on. Sharma had captained the Indian team to the semi-final of the last edition of the tournament in Australia.

However, England decimated the Indian team in the knockout clash by 10 wickets and since then, Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli have not played any T20Is for India since then.

The BCCI selection panel has seemingly moved on from the duo and preferred to give opportunities to youngsters.

Hardik Pandya has taken over as the captain of the Indian team in the 20-over format since then. He also led India to T20I series wins over Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home, and against New Zealand and Ireland overseas, and is currently leading the Indian team in the five-T20I series against West Indies, where the side lost the first match by 4 runs.

Even though it was widely believed that Rohit and Virat would never be seen representing India in the game’s shortest format, Rohit’s disclosure surprised everyone. The right-handed batter expressed excitement about traveling to the nation for the T20 World Cup in 2024 during the opening of his academy in the USA.

“More than just going and enjoying, there is another reason to come here (in the USA). Because you know the World Cup is coming. In June, there will be the T20 World Cup (2024) happening in this part of the world. So, I’m pretty sure everyone is excited. So yaa, we look forward to that,” Rohit in a video.

Rohit, who made his T20I debut for India on September 19, 2007, during India’s match against England in the T20 World Cup at Kingsmead, Durban, is the only cricketer in history to have played in all eight editions of the T20 World Cup till date.
