After missing the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, Rohit returned to the field during India’s warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI. However, his comeback did not go as wished as he managed just three runs while batting at the No. 4 position.
Rohit has been going through a rough patch in test cricket, averaging just 13 in his last 10 innings with only one half-century to his name.
While he has been opening since his return to test cricket in 2019, his recent struggles against the moving ball along with KL Rahul’s impressive performances as an opener in the Perth test has opened a debate about Rohit’s batting position in the next game.
Australia will host India in the day-night test at Adelaide, starting on December 6. The visitors will aim to bury the ghosts of the 2020-21 pink-ball test in which they were bowled out for 36 runs at the same venue.
