Rohit Sharma led India to ICC Champions Trophy 2025 last year.

2025 was a wonderful year for Rohit Sharma as a captain. In March, he led Indian Cricket Team to ICC Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final. Being unbeaten in the campaign, the Men-in-Blue won the tournament after 12 years, having last won in 2013.

It was India’s second ICC title under Rohit’s captaincy, as they also won the T20 World Cup in 2024. Following the tournament, Sharma retired from T20I cricket. He also retired from test cricket last year in May, pulling the curtains down on two formats in his career.

He is now only active in the 50-over format and looks forward to playing in the Cricket World Cup 2027. Moreover, he has been replaced by Shubman Gill as the new captain in tests and ODIs.

Similarly, India Women had a dream come true moment as they won ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 by crushing South Africa in the final to win the title. Harmanpreet Kaur led India Women to their first-ever ICC trophy to script history.

She also became the first woman cricketer and fourth overall Indian captain to win an ICC trophy. Kaur continues to lead India Women across three formats and is looking forward to leading the team in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be played in June and July in England.
