Rohit Sharma said that not losing a single match during T20 World Cup 2024 was a huge achievement.

Indian Cricket Team ODI captain Rohit Sharma lauded his team’s efforts to win ICC T20 World Cup 2024 last year. The right-handed batsman also said that not losing a single match in the tournament and winning the final was a huge achievement.

India defeated South Africa in the final of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by seven runs to win an ICC title after a gap of 11 years. Moreover, the Rohit Sharma-led side was unbeaten in the tournament, winning all of their nine matches, becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup unbeaten.

With the victory, Rohit Sharma & Co. fulfilled the long wait for an ICC trophy for Indian cricket fans. After the victory, Rohit also announced his retirement from T20I cricket. Suryakumar Yadav was later named as the new skipper in T20Is.

Speaking during an event, Rohit said that not losing a single match and winning the World Cup was a big achievement. He also said that players and support staff members contributed equally to the team’s victory during the tournament.

“Ek bhi match naa haarna aur ja ke World Cup jeetna ye bahut badi baat hai (Not losing a single match and then going on to win the World Cup is a huge achievement),” he said.

“I think wo desperation jo sab players ke andar tha aur humare jo support team thi unme tha, sab logo ne ek saath milkar contribute kiya aur eventually jab hum World Cup jeete sabko pata hi hai kitna badhiya celebration hua jab hum Bombay aaye”, he added.

(I think the desperation that was within all the players and our support staff, everyone contributed together, and eventually when we won the World Cup, everyone knows how incredible the celebrations were when we came back to Mumbai).

Meanwhile, Rohit also led India to ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title earlier this year. The 38-year-old will be next seen in the ODI series against Australia in October. He will lead the team during the three-match series, scheduled to be played from October 19 to 25 in Australia.
