Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their previous game of the Indian Premier League 2026. In the encounter, Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury.
In the 241-run chase, Rohit opened the batting with Ryan Rickelton. Both players gave a great start; however, Rohit suffered a hamstring injury in the sixth over.
Therefore, he retired hurt and left the field after scoring an unbeaten 19 runs off 13 deliveries. Later, he did not arrive at the field to resume his batting. He underwent a test for his injury to determine his availability for the next game.
Hardik Pandya & Co. are set to clash with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next match. The encounter will take place on Thursday, April 16, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit is set to miss the next clash against Punjab Kings. On Wednesday, the MI management is expected to reveal his unavailability and the extent of his injury in the pre-match press conference.
Rohit was part of all four games of MI. He scored a half-century in the opening game. In the other three matches, he has scored 35, 5, and 19*.
The Hardik Pandya & Co. have witnessed a poor start in the tournament. They won their opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but later lost their games in a row. In their previous game against RCB, they struggled in both the batting and bowling departments despite having the home advantage.
The five-time champions are placed in ninth spot in the points table with two points. Hence, they need to win their next clash against Punjab Kings. However, they are expected to face a big challenge as Punjab have been unbeaten in the tournament so far.
