Rohit Sharma made his India comeback during the first ODI in Perth.

After losing the opening game of the three-match ODI series at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Indian Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for the second ODI against Australian Cricket Team. The encounter will be played on October 23 (Thursday) at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, where the spotlight will be on Indian opener Rohit Sharma , who has a nice opportunity to bag a huge milestone against Australia Down Under.

Rohit made a comeback to international cricket in the ongoing ODI series against Australia after being away for seven months since March 2025. However, he failed to make a mark in the first ODI in Perth, losing his wicket for just eight runs off 14 deliveries.

Sharma started well with a boundary, however, he soon became a victim of Josh Hazlewood after being caught at slips by Matt Renshaw . Ahead of India’s tour of Australia, he was replaced as ODI captain with Shubman Gill and many expected him to make an impact in the first game itself but that wasn’t the case.

Notably, he needs just two more runs to become the first Indian batter to score 1000 ODI runs against Australia in Australia.

Currently, he has 998 runs in his kitty across 20 ODIs against Australia Down Under, and if he scores just two more runs in the next game, he will touch the mark of 1000 runs against Australia at their home.

At a stunning average of 55.44, the 38-year-old has also hammered four centuries and two half-centuries against the Aussies in Australia, including an impeccable top score of unbeaten 171 runs.
