Rohit Sharma scored 15 and 43 in the ICC WTC final against Australia at The Oval, London.

The Indian Cricket Team had yet another disappointing result from a big ICC Trophy Final. Australia have thrashed India in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval by a massive 209 runs margin. Team India struggled against Australia throughout the game and surrendered against the Australian pace attack.

Coming after an 18 months break from international cricket, Ajinkya Rahane remained the top scorer for team India. He scored 89 runs in the first innings. Indian team management’s strategies and blunders in the playing eleven have received many criticisms from the fans as well as from former legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, and a few others. Rohit Sharma has blamed the batting order for the big loss in the game.

Rohit Sharma disappointed with Indian batters

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said after the game, “It was a tough one, we started well with winning the toss, putting them in to bat in those conditions. We bowled well in the first session, and then we let ourselves down with how we bowled”.

Australia were 3 down in 72 runs just after the lunch break on day one, from there, Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121) took the game away from India completely. Rohit Sharma was disappointed with the batting performance and said, “Again, we didn’t apply ourselves with the bat. It was a good pitch to bat on. All five days the pitch behaved pretty well and we didn't capitalise”

This is the second consecutive WTC Final loss for India, they lost in 2021 against New Zealand and now against Australia. Talking about this, Rohit said, “We have worked hard for four years and played two finals. It’s disappointing for us, we would like to go some extra mile ahead to get one. But you can not take anything away from what we have done in the last two years”.

Since the 2013 Champions Trophy, India lost 4 ICC Finals and are yet to touch a trophy in the last 10 years. Rohit also credited Travis Head for changing the game completely on day one with his counter-attacking century.
