Rohit Sharma played two games so far in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai against Sikkim and Uttarakhand, respectively.
Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s stint in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 has come to an end after he played two games for his state side, Mumbai. He played matches against Sikkim and Uttarakhand, with the fans getting a glimpse of him playing at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
Rohit Sharma, who was named in the Mumbai squad for two games, as per reports, won’t be available for Mumbai’s remaining matches in the tournament. Reports said that he is back home ahead of India’s ODI series against New Zealand in the upcoming white-ball series. The ODI series begins from January 11 with three matches scheduled.
Rohit had a mixed bag in the two games that he played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored a scintillating century against Sikkim, slamming 155 off 94 balls to go with 18 fours and nine sixes. He won the Man of the Match award for his batting exploits. In the next match against Uttarakhand, he was out for a golden duck.
Rohit Sharma unavailable for remaining Vijay Hazare Trophy Games
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will both be making their international comebacks in the ODI series against New Zealand. Kohli had two good games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi. He scored 131 off 101 balls against Andhra and followed it up with 77 off 61 balls against Gujarat.
Kohli won the Man of the Match award against Gujarat for his knock as well, with Delhi winning the match by seven runs. Both Rohit and Kohli have returned to Mumbai ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce India’s ODI squad for the series against the Kiwis. However, fans are waiting with baited breadth for Rohit and Kohli’s international comeback. Both have been in a purple patch since the ODI series against Australia. Rohit scored a century in the third ODI at Sydney, with Kohli scoring back to back centuries and winning the Player of the Series award against South Africa.
