Rohit Sharma has not played any cricket since IPL 2025.
According to reports in Revsportz, Rohit Sharma will participate in the unofficial ODI series between Australia A and India A in September and October to get ready for the Australia visit. Since India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March, the ODI captain of India has not participated in an international cricket match. Since the Indian Premier League (IPL), he hasn’t played any cricket.
Rohit Sharma’s international career is in its endgame. The 38-year-old Mumbai cricketer retired from T20Is after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and called time on his test career in May this year, after enduring one of the poorest outings in tests by an Indian captain.
Rohit Sharma is now only available for India in the ODI format and last played for India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where he scored 76 runs against New Zealand and won the Player of the Final.
Rohit Sharma looks to get some game time before the Australia ODI tour

As per the RevSportz report, Rohit Sharma wants to participate in the one-day series between India A and Australia A. This is to get game time under his belt before the Australia white-ball tour in October. Rohit Sharma hasn’t played any cricket since IPL 2025.
Rohit has begun solo preparation, but he wants to play the “A” team series in the lead-up because he doesn’t want to arrive in Australia unprepared. India A and Australia A will play three unofficial One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Kanpur on September 30, October 3, and October 5.
In October and November, India will go to Australia for a white-ball series; the schedule includes three ODIs and five T20Is. On October 19, 23, and 25, the ODIs would take place in Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth.
There’s a sense that this tour might be Rohit’s final one playing cricket for his country. According to reports, the 38-year-old is not included in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) 2027 ICC World Cup (50-over) plans.
Indian cricket has started to move in a new direction under head coach Gautam Gambhir, and Rohit would be 40 years old by the time the next ODI World Cup comes. It has been reported that following the Australia visit, the ODI recalibration will start in earnest.
The captaincy for the ODI series in Australia has not yet been determined. The current captain, Rohit, won the ICC Trophy on his most recent assignment. Following the Asia Cup, the selectors will begin preparing for the ODIs.
